Reception Weekend Information
The awards reception weekend is the highlight of the show for the makers. It is our chance to network with our peers. On the Saturday afternoon before the awards, the makers are invited to a seminar typically put on by one of the judges or another maker. The Awards Reception is Saturday evening. Makers are also invited to attend a private judges critique on Sunday morning.

This year's educational seminar will feature 2023 TFMS Judge and internationally acclaimed furniture artist, Miriam Carpenter.
SEMINAR FOCUS - Miriam Carpenter will take us on an adventure - sharing her ideation, conception and process through her latest works. Carpenter explores connections across fields such as music, science and mathematics through multiple mediums – translating these ideas into pattern and form. She investigates the possibilities within materials as she solves challenging design problems. Appearing deceptively simple at first glance, each of Carpenter’s pieces involve complex calculations and an intimate understanding of her chosen material. The seminar will conclude with a discussion session so that the attendees can ask questions to gain a deeper understanding of her design approach.
ARTIST BIO - Miriam Carpenter is a contemporary artist and designer based in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. As a Rhode Island School of Design alumna, she began her career designing alongside Mira Nakashima. .Carpenter’s work can be found internationally in both private and public collections and has been exhibited most notably at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Michener Art Museum, Wharton Esherick Museum, Fuller Craft Museum, Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum, DeVos Art Museum, Philadelphia International Airport, SOFA Chicago, Design Miami and Moderne Gallery where she is currently represented. She has been awarded six international residencies over the past eight years and is an active participant in artist collaborations around the globe.
